How To Ask For More Money For Your Work
I was taught you get more when you give more and not by being a brat for more.
Most people don’t know how to properly ask for a raise.
I’m regularly dismayed by how many people tell me they’ve gone their entire careers without ever asking for more money
I am here to tell you: Asking for a raise is a totally normal part of having a job!
As long as you follow some guidelines below, you will not look selfish, entitled, or presumptuous (assuming you’re working for a reasonably functional employer) … and you might end up earning significantly more money just by having a conversation that could be as short as five minutes long.
Here’s how NOT to do it.
There are two wrong ways I have seen growing over the years:
Storming up to a superior demanding a raise or threatening to walk. Usually they person is always late, barely completes their work (if they even do) and is unpleasant to coworkers and customers.
They say they will do as little work as possible to get by until they get a raise. Sorry but that’s not how raises work.
